Tournaments give students a chance to bond as a team and showcase their hard work.
Often the most difficult assignments are the most rewarding. This was the case when creating an original Oratory manual.
Speech and Debate techniques are often passed down through oral history. There are very few, if any, textbooks that are intricate enough in detail to use in a competitive high school course. I created a compilation, with original instruction, that details the entire Oratory writing and performing process. It's long, fifty pages, but it is detailed and it includes sample speeches, online resources for instruction, and student worksheets. I have used this manual to successfully coach a national qualifier. Click on HDT to view the manual.
The Oratory guide utilizes multiple strategies to to capture crucial concepts of the speaking event and defines major components of the writing and delivery process to create student understanding.
